Earth & Ember: Born of Fire

The Earth & Ember Collection is where the artisan’s hand meets the untamed soul of the kiln. This series celebrates the ancient tradition of wood-firing, a three-day elemental journey where natural wood ash dances with intense heat to create unrepeatable surfaces. Moving away from the uniform and the mass-produced, these pieces embrace raw, organic textures and deep, scorched tones that can only be achieved by the touch of real flames.

Each vessel—whether a weighted tea cup or a sculptural mini vase—features a unique "landscape" of mineral deposits and natural glazes. There is a primordial honesty in these objects; they feel grounded in the hand and grow more beautiful with time. For the collector who finds beauty in the imperfect and the enduring, Earth & Ember offers a tactile ritual that brings the quiet strength of the natural world into the modern home.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly is "Wood-firing" ?

Unlike electric kilns, wood-firing uses natural timber as fuel. Over several days, the flying wood ash settles on the glowing clay, melting into a natural glaze. This creates the scorched, "toasted" appearance and rugged texture that defines the Earth & Ember aesthetic.

Why does my piece have small rough spots or "imperfections"?

These are not flaws—they are the signatures of the fire. Small mineral bursts, ash deposits, and tonal shifts are intentional characteristics of the wood-firing process. Each "imperfection" tells the story of the piece's 72-hour journey through the flames.

Does the raw texture affect the cleaning process?

While the exterior is beautifully raw and tactile, the interiors are fully vitrified. This means they remain non-porous and easy to clean. However, to protect the delicate ash-fall patterns on the outside, we recommend hand-washing with warm water.

Will this collection "develop" over time?

Yes. One of the greatest joys of Earth & Ember is the patina. Over years of use, the ceramic will absorb the oils from your skin and the aromas of your tea, becoming smoother and more lustrous. It is a "living" piece that grows with you.

Can I mix Earth & Ember with other collections?

Absolutely. The matte, earthy tones of this series provide a stunning visual anchor when paired with the shimmering glazes of our Sunburst or Crystal Ice collections, creating a "Wabi-Sabi" balance between the raw and the refined.
