Crystal Ice: Frozen in Time

The Crystal Ice Collection represents the ultimate intersection of science and artisanal mastery. This series is defined by its signature Crystalline Glaze, a technical marvel where zinc-silicate crystals are encouraged to grow inside the kiln during a meticulous cooling process. The result is a breathtaking surface of blooming snowflakes and frost-like structures that appear suspended within the depths of the ceramic.

Moving beyond static patterns, each piece in the Crystal Ice series is truly one-of-a-kind, as no two crystals ever form in the same shape or density. The surfaces are glass-smooth and highly reflective, catching the light to reveal the delicate, three-dimensional geometry of the minerals. Whether it’s a sleek tall tumbler or a serene Matcha Chawan, these vessels offer a sophisticated, ethereal aesthetic for those who appreciate the quiet beauty of a winter morning and the raw precision of handcrafted art.

Frequently asked questions

Are the "crystals" painted onto the surface?

No. The patterns you see are natural mineral growths. During the cooling stage in the kiln, we hold the temperature at a specific point to allow zinc-silicate to crystallize. It is a biological-like growth process that happens entirely within the molten glaze.

Why does the pattern on my cup look different from the photo?

That is the hallmark of the Crystal Ice series. Because the crystals grow organically, their size, shape, and placement are determined by the fire. Every vessel is a unique 1/1 original—your piece is the only one in the world with that specific "frozen" pattern.

Is the crystalline surface fragile or prone to scratching?

Not at all. Despite their delicate, snowflake-like appearance, these pieces are fired at extremely high temperatures, resulting in a surface that is as hard and durable as standard high-quality porcelain. It is smooth to the touch and resistant to daily wear.

How does the "Crystal Ice" texture feel in the hand?

The texture is exceptionally smooth and glass-like. Unlike the raw grit of our Earth & Ember collection, Crystal Ice feels cool and refined. The high density of the ceramic also provides excellent thermal mass, keeping your cold drinks crisp for longer.

Are these pieces safe for the dishwasher and microwave?

Yes. The Crystal Ice collection is fully vitrified and non-porous, making it food-safe and suitable for modern convenience. However, to maintain the pristine, light-catching luster of the crystals over the years, we always recommend gentle handling.
